My role

I have been serving as a network engineer for over two decades in the public and private sector. My work ranges from a junior network administrator to a senior consultant at a Fortune 500 company. I strive to learn, build and grow in expertise. What I do is not as complex as rocket science. English is not even my native language. Anyone who can read, write & comprehend can aspire to become a network engineer. A guide is important when choosing your career path. Our parents and teachers can influence our choices. Who is this suitable for ?

You do not need a college degree to become a network engineer. Usually, a high school diploma is enough. While college level IT studies can be beneficial, grit, curiosity, and growth mindset win out in succeeding in this profession. If you are not happy with your profession, and you are willing to work through a learning curve, then you should consider career in information technology. What are you waiting for? Stop stressing, and start networking.

What will you be doing ?

Network engineers have plenty of options. You may be assisting with multiple jobs, or you could be architecting a multi-million dollar project. Some network positions are not difficult to attain, while other network positions will require you to better yourself.

I have done projects from installing network switches, installing cameras, building custom PCs, upgrading network infrastructure for a whole hospital to remotely upgrading software on network equipment and with smart hand deploy a whole branch. If I get bored from a project, I simply don’t take them anymore. After being in the industry for20 years you have that control.
